When you're out looking for an after-hours tipple, stop by a Chinese restaurant and order a "cold tea" and you'll get a pot filled with a special brew. Toronto beat boss DJ Serious brings that late-night vibe to this follow-up to 2000's Dim Sum, which apparently was just an appetizer. Cold Tea rolls with a darker, nastier mid-90s New York sound, so the appearance by MC Masta Ace, who spits with typically stylish menace, fits perfectly with the concept. So do guests Theo 3 and Obscure Disorder, while D-Sisive proves he's capable of way more than just comic relief. Seriously sick from dusk till dawn. Cold Tea is currently available as a double vinyl LP with a bonus instrumental disc. The CD version drops April 26.
DJ Serious spins at Supermarket tonight (Thursday, April 7) and at Roxy Blue (Friday, April 8).
