DMX Grand Champ (Def Jam/Universal) Rating: N
When you see the pit bull cover image on thug rapper DMX's Grand Champ disc, and the CD booklet advertising his "urban dogwear" line, it becomes apparent that the album is just part of a promotional pitch for his new doggie clothes business venture. That's confirmed by the utter lack of creativity behind his beats and rhymes, which all employ the same canine metaphors to restate Grand Champ's main message: don't mess with DMX. But he takes time out from all the barking to drop one particularly offensive track, Where The Hood At, expressing his hatred for homosexuals. He may want to reconsider any move into the fashion world.
