Dragon Fli Empire’s MC Teekay is the kind of rapper who wears his heart, soul and mind on his sleeve, almost to the point of preciousness. He has a gift for earnest delivery, but when the bpms cruise below 85, his mic control is less impressive.

Still, his heart pours through each of the 14 funky tracks, while DJ Cosm (the other half of this Calgary duo) adds elegant piano, violin and magnetic upright bass lines at random. Another bonus: there’s no swears on this rap album, gosh darn it! Josh Martinez, Masta Ace, Cadence Weapon, Moka Only and others make appearances, and Moka Only shows again why he’s Canada’s most underappreciated MC.
