It’s always the Christian home-schooled kids who aren’t allowed to listen to music who end up producing their own weird brew. So it goes with the young DuPree siblings and their best chum in Eisley, who create lush vocal harmonies and a dark, orchestrated sound that washes over you. They may not take many chances on this debut, relying on repetitive song structures and recurrent, lolling vocals that sound a little too much like Sixpence None the Richer’s Leigh Nash. But it’s refreshing to hear a teenage band that’s not butchering a Go-Go’s song or oversexualizing themselves.
Eisley hit the Kool Haus Sunday (April 3).
