ENDLESS BOOGIE

ENDLESS BOOGIE Focus Level (No Quarter) Rating: NNNN

It’s no big secret that Endless Boogie are a bunch of jaded Brooklyn hipsters. Led by vinyl junkie Paul Major and Matador label staffer Jesper Eklow, they get their kicks by knocking out badass blues-rock jams like some kinda communal-living hairy hippie fuds whose sweet-ass choppers were repossessed by the Man.

But in an odd way, knowing that Focus Level is part of an ongoing stoner rock masquerade just makes Endless Boogie’s odes to backyard fig smoking and intermittent lapses into faux freaky speaking-in-tongues babble all the more entertaining. If Lester Bangs were alive today, he’d either want to fight them or toot jug solos on their next recording.
