ENYA

Rating: NNN

I wonder how this came about. Maybe Enya was having drinks with her buds and all of a sudden was like, ‘Shit man, y’know what I should do? Sing more songs in a made-up language inspired by Tolkien’s elvish dialects.’ So the New Age queen returns with Amaratine, sounding much like everything else she’s done till now with Celtic-ish melodies accompanied by warm strings and ethereal synths. The made-up language is unreadable cuz the characters look like runes, but the words are pretty and, uh, elvish-sounding. Silliness aside, Enya has a gift for beautiful melodies, and I can’t recall the last time I felt so relaxed after listening to something.
