Evanescence

Rating: NNNN

It’s amazing what crowd sounds can do. If ever there were any doubts about the emotive super-power of Amy Lee’s belting, this double CD/DVD live outing puts them to rest. Seconds into the first bars of Haunted, the roar from the audience is Nurembergesque. Anyone who writes off the Virginian goth queen as ethereal is either deaf or lazy. Lee and her cohorts shine in a live context, and whether you’re a fan or not, it’s hard to deny the huge feeling of these discs. The DVD features the band live in Paris, the music videos and a behind-the-scenes mini-doc. Years from now the truth will be revealed: Evanescence is nu metal’s Heart.
