FEAR FACTORY

Rating: NNN

For a band that’s been around since 1992, Fear Factory have always been pretty good at staying on top of their game while playing industrial/electro-metal with occasional forays into death metal. On their seventh release, they continue to experiment with compositions that are more grandiose in scope, like Echo Of My Scream and Contagion. There’s also plenty of what FF do best: chugging, pulsating metal and gut-wrenching vocals. Sometimes things can start sounding a bit hokey, with song titles like Spinal Compression, but overall Transgression is a solid release from a band who’ve earned their longevity. Fear Factory tear into the Molson Amphitheatre Saturday (September 3).
