Felix Da Housecat’s newest offering has already been making waves overseas, having recently been named album of the year by UK DJ rag Musik. Mining the current European fascination with electro and new wave, he comes up with an alternate version of the 80s: basic house rhythms propel bouncy electro-pop melodies while robotic women chant nonsense. On Pray For A Star, guest vocalist Harrison Crump does his best Michael Jackson but sounds more British by the closing synth ballad, Runaway Dreamer. Accessible and fun, the best songs are immediately appealing but just tough enough to work in the clubs.
