Fine Motor Control

Rating: NNN

Fine Motor Control are one of Toronto’s entries into the new two-man band format that seems to be hip these days. Their self-declared influences – which perhaps stick too predictably to the menu of most grunge (yes, grunge) rock bands – range from Sonic Youth to Led Zeppelin. Debut EP Cages may rest too safely within the band’s chosen confines, but it showcases a well-executed bass/drum combo with a side of heavy yet bouncy riffs to boot. As long as singing in key isn’t mandatory for listening enjoyment, this album should satisfy those who like the sounds of under-produced rock with a Glock.
