FLINT

FLINT Device 1 (Universal) Rating: NNN

Rating: NNN

Lucky for Flint, I didn’t read the press release before listening to this. Flint is the new side project of Keith Flint of the Prodigy, who to me represented everything that was wrong about jocks and techno and rock getting together. This isn’t techno-rock, though, and although some critics have been lumping it in with nu metal, it has more in common with 70s UK punk bands like the Damned than with Korn. Dirty, fucked-up, evil rock music stripped down to the basics. Keith Flint seems just crazy enough to be convincing, but the band could stand to learn a few more tricks.
