Who the hell is this band shamelessly ripping off Green Day? Oh, it's Green Day. Very clever, Billie Joe Armstrong, releasing a 60s garage rock album under the disguise of the Foxboro Hot Tubs, you got us. Actually, it's kinda surprising this didn't happen sooner, considering that GD are from San Francisco, the mecca of kitschy garage bands. If only Armstrong would fully commit to the idea.
The first side has some killer pysch garage blasts, but the deeper you get into Stop Drop, the more the road veers back to Green Day pop punk. It starts somewhere around the Ramones-tinged track She's A Saint Not A Celebrity, then goes fully into Kerplunk era on the chorus of Sally. Still, this is a pretty cool project, and Armstrong's songwriting is getting better with age.
