This kind of thing could have gone terribly wrong. A French DJ makes a career out of teaming up with African musicians to make world beat dance music – I can see some of you cringing right now. This is actually a good live album representing an electronic-live hybrid that genuinely functions as a real band, where all the players have room to speak in their own distinctive voices. While it’s clear that Galliano is at the helm (it’s his beats and bass lines that guide the songs), he doesn’t dominate the proceedings. The real stars are the singers and musicians.
