This is a fun, bouncy minimal techno album – funky and catchy, but still weird and dissonant enough to remain interesting past the first couple of listens. FYM’s slice-and-dice micro-sample approach is still rooted in synthesizers and old arcade game sounds, but there’s something refreshingly raw and tough about it. Too many artists in this genre get overly excited about digital signal processing and forget that this is supposed to be dance music. Tight, chunky weirdo techno, with a healthy dose of house music’s swing and shuffle.
