Gang of Four's 1979 masterwork, Entertainment!, was reissued once before, by Henry Rollins's Infinite Zero label back in 95, but the timing just wasn't right. However, with the rise of groups like the Rapture, Bloc Party, Radio 4 and many others copping Gang of Four's edgy dance rock aesthetic, the precisely stabbing guitar and choppy rhythms of Entertainment! seem exactly right for this moment in time. What you get are many of the group's best-loved songs, including Damaged Goods, Return The Gift, I Found That Essence Rare and At Home He's A Tourist from the original album, along with eight bonus tracksm including Armalite Rifle, He'd Send In The Army and a live version of Sweet Jane that underscores their debt to the New York sound.
Gang of Four revisit their non-hits at the Phoenix Saturday (May 14).
