Album reviews Music

Gene Simmons

Rating: NN

The first and best song sounds like vintage KISS, but the rest of the album involves sped-up soul samples, a cover of Firestarter and further distressing digressions from his original sound, so this is harsh ear tokes. Simmons’s family and friends play throughout the album, which is nice, but nice does not cause music to rock out. The grossly apropos cover photo has Gene in a suit looking like a blend of Ron Jeremy, Gino and Milli Vanilli, surrounded by women of all ages bedecked in lingerie. Asshole is stank.
