Berlin-based techno and house suppliers Get Physical mark a half-decade of dance-floor innovation with a two-disc set split between remixes and exclusives.
The latter disc celebrates many of the label's signature ingredients, lush production and artists who cleverly straddle the minimalist techno and deep house genres such as in-house producers Booka Shade, who lay down a dark, heavy groove on Unhealthy Pleasures, or Lopazz and his metallic guitar-sampling electro on The Fact.
Followers of the label will scratch their heads at the remix portion. By calling out to the indie rock sect, enlisting the likes of Rapture, Hot Chip and Fujiya & Miyagi, the birthday disc feels like it's having a midlife crisis, afraid of losing its cool.
Only Dexter's synthed-out space disco reworking of DJ T's Freemind and Señor Coconut's Latin-tinged version of Body Language save it from pointlessness.
