The Deadly Snakes’ Andre Ethier isn’t the only one in the band with a side-project jones. Bassist Chad Ross has assembled Ghoststory with Jeremi Madsen, Paul Vernon and Colin Randall to play his own darkly tinted version of couch country. Like most slouchy Canuck bands in the subgenre, Ghoststory uses Neil Young’s Tonight’s The Night as a jumping-off point, then takes everything down five notches to a funereal creep and stays there. Pedal steel ace Bob Egan adds some tasteful twang to make it a slightly more stylish bringdown. Bottle-toke approved.
