Goat Horn

Rating: NNN

I’m pretty sure I’ve used the words “chugging and galloping” to describe Goat Horn in the past, and far be it from me to repeat myself, but that’s pretty much what this record does. It chugs and gallops in that pure, unapologetic tight-jeans-and-layered-hair metal way that warrior city kids Goat Horn are known for. Things seem a little more polished this time around, which is nice, and while there’s more gritty growling than noodly yodelling – the sort of thing The Darkness does – vocalist Jason Decay manages to get some brief high notes in there. Raw and rather amusing. OK, very amusing. We’re not laughing at you. We’re laughing near you.

Goat Horn launch their disc at the Vatikan Saturday (April 30).
