Gomma is kind of like the German version of DFA. Both labels specialize in that hard-to-describe new-wave-house-rock-techno stuff that's been making considerable inroads into the indie rock and dance music worlds. This is a mix compilation of obscurities from the label, and actually features a few DFA alumni, including James Murphy and the Rapture. Don't mistake Gomma for copycats, though; it would be more accurate to describe members of the two factions as colleagues and peers. If you've been curious about Gomma but aren't willing to hunt down all the 12-inches, this is a pretty good place to start - consistent enough to make for a good DJ mix but varied enough to avoid monotony.
