No longer content with being the charmingly eccentric Welsh pop cut-ups, the Gorkys decide to explore more serious piano ballads on the disappointing Sleep/ Holiday (emphasis on the sleep part). Here is a dreary series of tip-tapping variations on the sensitive form, each more snooze-inducing than the last. Sad. Knock back a coffee or three before the Gorkys’ show at Lee’s Palace Friday (October 17), or bring a pillow.
