If you seamed the last track from Holy Fuck's 2005 debut right into Super Inuit, the opener from their lazily titled follow-up, you probably wouldn't notice the transition, much like if you spliced Neu! And Neu! 2 together. Considering how much Krautrock has influenced Brian Borcherdt and Graham Walsh's lo-fi improv electro project, that continuity makes sense.
The new songs are less frenetic, likely the product of their amped-up tour schedule. And new ground is explored on Lovely Allen, Borcherdt and Walsh's successful stab at injecting a pop hook into the mechanical mayhem, and on the techno-dipping Royal Gregory, which proudly displays Fuck's growing mastery of vocal loops. It's more of the same, but in a good way.
Holy Fuck get it on at Kool Haus Saturday (October 20).
