hot hot heat Knock Knock Knock (Sub Pop) Rating: NNNN Rating: NNNN
Vancouver's Hot Hot Heat are, well, hot right now, gathering buzz on both coasts and across the border. And they deserve the hype. Knock Knock Knock, the band's first album for Sub Pop, is entirely authentic 60s-cum-80s rock 'n' roll, overflowing with sexy swagger. It's the new breed of new wave crossed with kickass Mod-style booty-shakin' and Cure-ish snotty vocals oh-so-casually spit out by keyboardist/vocalist Steve Bays over complementary piano parts. Who knew a marriage of rock and cabaret could sound this good?
