Huevos Rancheros

New and notable releases

Rating: NNN

When it comes to sun-faded surf and snap-cracklin’ rockabilly, Calgary instrumental dandies Huevos Rancheros have always quoted the less-is-more textbook, which, since they’re a trio, is a plus anyway. On Muerte Del Toro, the three bash and stagger through a solid handful of lean, sharp scorchers that are fun but seldom worthy of the giddy genius of their titles (save maybe Bring Me The Beard Of Billy Gibbons). Expect things to turn around when Huevos Rancheros scramble it up at the Horseshoe June 1.
