>IFFY Biota Bondo (Foodchain) Rating: NNNN Rating: NNNN
Ever wonder what Bob Dylan might sound like rapping? Me neither, but that's what comes to mind on the first track of Biota Bondo. Love children of the amalgamation era, Iffy -- the brainchild of Run Westy Run's Kirk and Kraig Johnson -- incorporate all the best attributes of funk, soul, hiphop, dance and pop, with stylistic nods all over the board including Latin, disco and gospel, omitting the forced, sharp elements rained upon us by a desperate industry screaming, "Pay attention to me" and replacing them instead with loopy quirks and groovy mixes. Easy on the ears and danceable without being so repetitive you want to punch someone, Iffy have tapped into a perfectly balanced realm where worlds can collide but nothing is destroyed in the process. Check Iffy's NXNE set at C'est What Saturday (June 8) at midnight.
