IGGY POP

IGGY POP Skull Ring (Virgin) Rating: NN

Rating: NN

Those expecting to get another Fun House out of Iggy Pop’s studio reunion with his Stooges cohorts Ron and Scott Asheton in Skull Ring are setting themselves up for a big disappointment. Try as they might to recreate their trademark blast, they’re limited by Iggy’s inability to reconnect with the primal spirit at the core of those definitive Stooges sessions. Well, along with simply being collectively tapped for exciting musical ideas. And bringing in the members of Green Day and Sum 41 doesn’t help in the creativity department. At least Iggy can honestly say that Skull Ring is his best recording in years.
