Ivan Smagghe is known for his eclectic and forward-thinking radio show on Paris’s Radio Nova. Despite the title, there’s no PiL-inspired disco punk here, but there are a lot of kitschy new wave acid house moments and lots of updated Italo-disco. While it’s not terribly groundbreaking any more, this style seems to have legs, working on a very diverse set of dance floors. The mixing is nothing special, but that comes with this musical territory. Halfway through the tempo slows down a chunk, which allows him to showcase some other rhythms than the standard synth-disco throb.
