Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson On And On (Universal) Rating: NNNN Rating: NNNN

Jack Johnson’s laid-back groove proved successful with Brushfire Fairytales. On And On, another offering of acoustic guitar ballad hybrids blending world, reggae, mellow funk, blues and folk, will probably be just as well received. Johnson takes on serious subjects like industrialization, school shootings and offshore oil drilling, but ultimately his work still comes across as pretty mellow and sweetly charming. People will continue comparing Johnson to Ben Harper, but I doubt if he’ll mind.
