John Wesley Harding Adam’s Apple (DRT) Rating: NNNN
Rating: NNNN
Lots of fun. John Wesley Harding does a fine job here of showing he’s still got it, displaying his proficiency with rock, folk, gettin’ fonky and poppy, storytelling, being funny and poignant. Love the way he keeps it all so delightfully simple with acoustic guitars and lucid melody lines. Uncluttered but brimming with substance. Sluts is particularly catchy, and listen closely to Sussex Ghost Story. Negative Love is inspired by a John Donne poem, and Protest Protest Protest compares political action of the 60s with today’s. Catchy refrain, too.
