With the release of the Johnny and June Carter Cash story Walk The Line, it was obvious Sony BMG would have a CD collection of their duet recordings ready to go. It's just surprising that it took the label this long to get it out. Perhaps Sony was waiting for the disc of lame-ass recreations of this material by novice singers Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon to sell a few copies, since John and June's original takes on Jackson and It Ain't Me Babe would stop soundtrack sales dead. The Duets overview focuses on their heartwarming romantic numbers to the complete exclusion of their lighter fare - an unfortunate choice, since their most entertaining and genuine recorded moments can be found in their nutty carousing on songs like the raucous Color Of Love. Producer Gregg Geller also skimped on the liner notes, only mentioning the origin of It Takes One To Know Me, an unexpected highlight in what should've been a much more comprehensive package.
