Julz A

Rating: NN

It’s difficult to grasp where Julz A (Julian Hintz) is coming from with his self-described ‘accordion alternative rock/hiphop.’ If he wanted to create something truly unique, he succeeded. If he wanted to create something beguilingly difficult and jarring to the ears, then he really succeeded. This polyphony of remedial MC skills, unstable harmonies and wonky accordion rock rhythms is so confounding and strange, it piques your curiosity about the former concert hall prodigy. In fact, he might just be one of the must-see acts of NXNE, especially since his bio boasts winning performances at the Rock Accordion Summit of Providence 2004 and 2005. Those are some serious credentials.

Julz A jams it out at the Art Bar Friday (June 9) at 9 pm.
