Take axe ace Kevin Breit (Norah Jones, Cassandra Wilson) and his band, Sisters Euclid. Add John Dickie (Mondo Combo), put 'em in a small, dank room and hit "record." When you're this good, the less studio trickery the better. Breit and the boys have long been fixtures at the Orbit Room on Mondays, and while there's nothing with strings he can't play, he never lets virtuosity get in the way of the song. His laid-back, sensuous tone complements Dickie's plaintive, soulful delivery so well you'd swear they were separated at birth. Offsetting the more traditional blues tunes are solid, funky rhythms (check out L.A.) that would get George Clinton up for the downstroke.
Join Breit and his pals for their CD release party at the Rivoli Tuesday (May 11).
