Something for KISS completists to put on their KISS Visa card. This third – and they promise final – five-disc set delivers more than 10 hours of guitar-shredding, fire-breathing live performances that prove that, yes, Gene, Paul and the boys still know how to rock and roll all night and party every day.
It includes footage from dozens of live performances, previously unreleased MTV Unplugged clips, a fun if not entirely illuminating behind-the-scenes doc shot during rehearsals and backstage, and a so-so commentary track featuring Simmons and Stanley.
But the real treat for soldiers in the KISS Army is the band’s Coventry show from December 1973 – the first KISS concert ever filmed in which they wore full makeup. The years have been surprisingly kind.
