LADYTRON

Rating: NNN

This is the second full album by Liverpool electro fiends Ladytron and it carries on in the direction of their critically acclaimed 604 album. Unfortunately, the formula of 80s new wave beats and melodies topped off with deadpan, monotone vocals about plastic and technology has been done to death over the past year. Thus, Ladytron has lost much of the novelty that originally propelled them to greater recognition. The pop hooks are catchy, but their ardent claims that they are not a retro band are hard to take seriously. The new new wave sounds suspiciously like the old new wave, which for some is a good thing, but for others will seem more like necrophilia.
