Lamb Of God

Rating: NNNN

These constantly touring self-described purveyors of true American metal definitely show off skills on this release, a constant barrage of well-oiled chug-metal complemented by deep but rarely grating vocals from Randy Blythe. The band packs an instrumental-vitals-punch, and it’s such a tight sound that the bass and both guitars meld together like a well-microwaved ham, cheese and onion sandwich, except somehow heavier. This is definitely its own type of thing, influenced by many different kinds of loudness and coming off as both original and welcome. Lamb Of God hit the Kool Haus Friday (November 12).
