LEAVES Breathe (DreamWorks/Universal) Rating: NN

Rating: NN

There’s more to the Icelandic music scene than meditative soundscapes and quirky alterna-divas. The Leaves are making a nice career for themselves out of their ability to sound like Coldplay on one song and Radiohead on the next. But once you get past the novelty of their knock-off skills, the bland music of Breathe – originally released last year to great fanfare in the UK, where there’s never enough Coldplay and Radiohead to go around – is astonishingly mediocre, even with the re-recorded tracks.

Appropriately enough, the Leaves open for former Tragically Hip tribute act the Stereophonics at the Opera House Friday (September 19).
