Kravitz seems to live in some kind of alternate universe where simple ideas already done by B-level Canadian rock acts strike him as his own original thoughts. No, I’m not just talking about his version of American Woman. On Baptism, when he tells us, “I am the minister of rock and roll,” I picture Hawksley Workman considering using the line but then thinking it was too much like Danko Jones. The other issue I have with this record is that there’s too much wailing saxophone. I also have a beef with the Prince-like jam-out Sistamamalover.
