Sometimes Leviride vocalist Paul Lahey sounds a bit like Morrissey and a collection of other voices from the 80s others times he sounds a bit like Barney from The Simpsons or a Muppet. Either way, it’s an interesting sound. This is a nice indie-poppy debut with some delicately punk leanings, and then fuzzier and more lush melodic pieces reminiscent of mid-80s college-rock radio. The strings and horns add dimension and texture, and the song structures can be unpredictable, which is a refreshing change.
