LIAM LYNCH

Rating: NNNNN

As soon as I got to track two, United States Of Whatever, I fell in love and almost out of my chair laughing. Fake Songs is 20 tracks of original comedy rock interspersed with sound-alike tunes of artists like Björk (Fake Björk Song), the Pixies (Fake Pixies Song) and others. Uncannily, Liam Lynch manages to make himself sound almost exactly like all of them. It’s hard to pick the best one, but Fake Bowie Song (circa Ziggy Stardust era) is definitely up there. Jack Black duets with Lynch on Rock And Roll Whore, and Ringo Starr plays drums on Cuz You Do and Try Me. The disc comes with a DVD featuring music videos, short films, computer animation and puppets. This is some seriously funny shit.
