LINKIN PARK Meteora (Warner) Rating: NNN Rating: NNN
Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory was the best-selling album of 2001. Obviously, the part-metal-part-hiphop-mixed-with-80s-synth-pop formula is working, and who'd want to mess with a good thing? Not Linkin Park. Meteora sounds very much like what they've done before, especially the first few tracks, but then there's the très 80s Breaking The Habit and the instrumental Session. Brad Delson's power guitar mixes terrifically with the gentler melodies and DJ Joseph Hahn's scratching. Surprising additions such as Japanese pan flutes on Nobody's Listening are also a cool addition. Fans will be pleased.
