LUCIEN-N-LUCIANO

Rating: NNNN

On first listen, if you’re not paying attention, this album almost sounds like that dreadful avalanche of dubby triphop pop that people keep releasing in hopes of bringing back that particular moment as soon as the 80s revival exhausts itself. Thankfully, the Swiss/Chilean Luciano has bigger and more ambitious things on his mind: melodic, poppy, ambient dub techno, without any of that German sterility we’ve come to expect from digital dub projects. Relaxing and addictive. Pick it up before it’s banned.
