Album reviews Music

Mark Feldman

Rating: NNN

Let’s forget that Feldman was on Canadian Idol, that he cut his teeth at Western “I have more money than you” University and that he hails from the affluent border town of Thornhill, which spawned Moxy Früvous, Hayden, and By Divine Right, among others. You might find it hard to forget the Idol thing, but it’s a tough world and a guy’s gotta do what a guy’s gotta do. His bio says, “Think Dylan meets John Mayer,” but his sound is just as likely to appeal to those in the Jack Johnson camp. Poppy, acoustic-driven ballads make up the 12 tracks, and his lyrics avoid schmaltzy clich&eacutes in favour of decent stories told with a confidence and maturity many upstarts lack.
