Assisted by friends from bands he's played in, Mice Parade's Adam Pierce offers up mostly acoustic-based songs fleshed out with warm, dense arrangements and gentle vocals. These aren't straight 4/4 beats - there's a slight mathy touch to his rhythms that would appeal to fans of Wooden Stars, Sea Snakes or Burn Rome in a Dream, and they often sound like they could have been composed electronically. Still, that complexity isn't show-offy, and it doesn't distract from the prettiness of the songs. A lovely, moody listen.
Mice Parade play the Poor Alex tonight (Thursday, May 5).
