MOONSPELL

MOONSPELL Darkness and Hope (Century Media) Rating: NNN

There are only so many places you can go when making vampire music. You can throw in operatic angel voices here and there, get some pipe organ a-root-toot-tooting, make up some scary-sounding titles like Devilred and/or Heartshaped Abyss and write lyrics about burning, desire, burning desire and, of course, vampires. Moonspell have taken the best moments of Faith No More, the Cult and Sisters of Mercy for their creepy brew, and singer Fernando Ribeiro entices with his deep and husky Count Dracula bellow. Listening to them is like watching the best-ever episode of Forever Knight. You can see them with the Italian Goth metal band Lacuna Coil at the Reverb Monday (December 10).
