Must B 21 Will.i.am Presents Soundtrack To Get Things Started (BBE) Rating: NNNN Rating: NNNN
Although Will.i.am has produced some intriguing jams before, he raises the stakes considerably on Must B 21 – a modern-day update of the blaxploitation soundtrack concept – coming up with jarringly creative and stylistically varied tracks worthy of the impressive cast of microphone rippers he’s assembled. They include KRS-One, Planet Asia, MC Lyte, Phife, Phil da Agony and the great Supernatural, who each put in dynamic performances. It’s at least five singles deep in party-rocking jams, so hopefully BBE realizes what it’s got here.
