I'm sure the band already knows it, but for those who don't, Toronto's Nassau, with just two albums under their belt, have more cred in the game than most other bands could dream of. That's mostly due to singer and song man Jon McCann's stint in the seminal Guided by Voices. The fact that this is a rad band doesn't hurt either. On their sophomore effort, the foursome work at perfecting a sound that blends neo-psychedelic folk Byrds redux with contemporary bands like the Shins and Trail of Dead. The end result isn't just an elaborate knockoff, though, but a wonderfully eccentric album that deserves to go down as one of T.O.'s best this year.
Nassau launch Machines at the Boat tonight (Thursday, October 26).
