Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head (no, she’s not in the band) have an intriguing but terrible name. Based in Seattle, the members of this hipster party-rock outfit are (how’d you guess?) former art-school students.

With simple synth hooks and irreverent lyrics about beards and boners, the fivesome are like a way shittier version of pervy Parisian synth geeks the Teenagers. At least the Teenagers’ funny, low-register English accents and sleazy lyrics elicit a chuckle and their pop hooks dare you not to like ’em.
NPSH, on the other hand, come up short on substance every time. They have hip haircuts, 808 claps and post-punk guitar stylings but can’t write a decent hook.
