Brimming over with seething passion that’s by turns angst-ridden and terrifying, Lost Light is a taut, indie rock version of the blues. Backed by a stripped-down core of tightly coiled bass, hypnotic bursts of guitar and subtle cymbal and snare accents, Arrington DeDionyso raves, froths and yelps about vampires, trapped tigers and rising water like a crazed evangelist – kinda like Jon Spencer circa Now I Got Worry, except you actually believe him and can tell he’s reinventing metaphors to describe his wounded heart. While this will mostly appeal to fans of no-wave, there are some awesome Velvet Undergroundish sonic experiments like the creepy-good Music Of The Spheres that make it a fine addition to K’s lo-fi canon.
