Original Recipe are Toronto-based Dean Williams and Steve Mason of San Francisco, who’ve only briefly managed to live in the same city during their 10 years working together. Noisette, their second full-length album, comes across a bit like a mixture of atmospheric shoegazer rock and downtempo electronic music. Its somewhat raw and homemade sound works in its favour. On the downside, the occasional silly bits detract from the strange prettiness that makes the rest of it interesting.
