OUR LADY PEACE

Rating: N

Wasting no time in filling the annoying alterna-rock gap left by retiring whiners the Smashing Pumpkins, pre-fab Canuck rock stars Our Lady Peace have released what’s being touted as a concept album. Spiritual Machines, according to spin, is based on a book by inventor Ray Kurzweil that a band member read. Singer dude Raine Maida heard how computers would soon rule the world, so he went to work crafting his own 2112. That likely would’ve been much more interesting than Spiritual Machines, which sounds like the usual OLP cra-eya-ya-eya yap pushing the same loneliness and alienation buttons for fun and profit.
